Tuesday, November 8th, may be the most important General Election ever! It will almost certainly be the most watched. But the race for president won’t be the only thing that matters!
When you get your ballot, you’ll be looking at a long list of candidates and issues. Start preparing yourself now to be able to vote for more than who gets to live in the White House next year. U.S. House representatives, Michigan state representatives, many judges and several local candidates will be seeking your approval. Also on the ballot in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne Counties will be a 20-year regional transportation millage. In Detroit, voters will be asked to fill 7 seats out of 64 candidates running for the new school board. All of this is important and has the potential to directly impact our lives.

In the privacy of your own home, take time to study your sample ballot.
If can’t vote in person on Election Day, you still have time to submit your application for an absentee ballot and vote by mail or at your local clerk’s office. In the last presidential election, only 63 percent of registered Michigan voters cast ballots. This year, let’s aim to beat that percentage.
In our most recent Channel 7/Detroit Free Press poll, the majority of Michiganders, 53%, believe our economy is improving. On Tuesday, November 8th, it’s extremely important that you vote for the candidates and issues you think will keep Michigan moving forward!
