More than 1700 business, political and community leaders made their way to historic Mackinac Island. The Detroit Regional Chamber’s annual policy conference is a must for the movers and shakers. Wisely, they concentrated on three pillars or topics: Connecting technology, political civility and increasing economic opportunity. These three areas are critical to Detroit and Michigan’s Future.
The Mackinac Conference helps to project the importance of our Great Lakes State. Tourism, auto industry, defense manufacturing, education and urban revitalization are areas in which we have to vigorously compete!
National experts here play a key role in helping to shape Michigan’s agenda. They force us to think beyond our local borders and regional communities. That alone, can be a catalyst for change. No wise state ever rests on their laurels!
What happens at the Mackinac Policy conference today is transparent. Although the conversations take place miles away here up north, what is said and done directly affects our quality of life at home. As a community, and as a state, we must act together to continue the positive direction Detroit and Michigan is headed. We are the comeback state and city!
