OXFORD, Mich. (WXYZ) — Thousands of people are in a stinky mess and wondering what happened to their garbage service. Customers say they heard the company Odd Jobs Disposal closed its doors and is out of business.
Some customers say they’ve paid for service until the end of the year and don’t know if they are going to get their money back.
This isn’t the first time we’ve covered issues with Odd Jobs Disposal. In March, the company was booted from doing service in Orion township.
Now, the streets in the Woodbriar subdivision in Oxford are littered with garbage after customers say they heard Odd Jobs Disposal closed up shop.
"We find out without warning that we’re not getting any service," Mike Nastasy said after hearing the garbage service was canceled Monday morning.
Now, Mike and his wife Sarah are left looking for a new garbage service.
"Everybody was talking that they closed," Sarah said. "6000 people without garbage, and service was paid a year in advance."
Sarah and her neighbors say they’ve used the business for years, but now they don’t know what’s going on.
"Not to get notification of, 'hey, we’re not going to pick up your trash Monday.' It’s frustrating," said Mike Dungan, a customer with Odd Jobs.
The company has had issues with customer satisfaction. In March, the company was slacking on service in Orion township. The company later was booted from doing any service there. On their Facebook page, the company said they're not serving their customers to the highest standards, saying in part: “Unfortunately, as many of our customers have experienced we are not performing at our normal standards."
Action News called the business and even visited the company looking for answers, but had no luck.
ow people are left wondering what to do next, and left looking for a new garbage collector. Customers are also hopefully for a refund.
"We called you in hopes that maybe another company would see our neighborhood and the 6,000 other people that are going to be without garbage pick up and maybe there’s a company that’s willing to help us," Sarah Nastasy said.
When we went to the company we didn’t see any signs out front indicating the company was closed for good.
Some of the people Action News' Alan Campbell spoke with say they just want their garbage removed and to get their money back.
