(WXYZ) — A restaurant staple along Woodward Ave. in Royal Oak is shutting its doors after more than six decades.

Pasquale's Restaurant announced on Friday that it's closing, with the last day of business on Sunday, April 7.

"This was a difficult decision and we want to express our gratitude to all of our loyal customers for your patronage over the past 65 years. Pasquale's would not have thrived without you! Thank you for the memories. We will cherish them always," the restaurant said in a statement.

They opened in 1954 and have been a tradition with recipes dating back four generations.

"For years and years, the preparation of our Italian specialties was the sole domain of Papa Giuseppe. All of these traditional, Neapolitan recipes have been handed down and are still prepared daily by family members," the website reads.
