The 11th grade Martin Luther King High School world history teacher made a way to combine his love for Hip Hop with his love for communicating with students by kicking lyrics that become lessons.

"This is my calling in life. It just really feels like I'm where I'm supposed to be, in a position to directly help the kids of King High in the best way possible," says Dan Wolford.

Expressing individual thoughts and feelings is the fuel behind Wolford's Hip Hop club.

A couple days a week students of all grade levels gather to tell it from the heart, while Mr. Wolford helps them relate it to the mind.

Club Member Devin Chisholm told us this, "First of all, I wasn't expecting to see Mr. Wolford that's for sure, but when I came it was nothing but love."

Not only does Dan Wolford take the mic, he also takes pride in being the teacher these students can really rap with about family life and future.

The vibe is so strong that this group has gone from making music to making lasting friendships.

"When ever I have, like, an issue at home or at school, I can go to anyone of these people or I can go to Mr. Wolford and say 'Hey, this is what I'm having a problem with'," says Freshman student.

So for bring the best out of your students through beats, Dan Wolford, you are our Person of the Week.
