Police investigate shooting that left one dead in City of Monroe

MONROE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Police are investigating a shooting in a residential area in the City of Monroe Tuesday evening.

Around 8:03 p.m., Monroe Police responded to gunshots fired in the 300 block of Kentucky Avenue. At the scene, officers found an adult male and female victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

The man died from this injuries, despite authorities performing "lifesaving measures," officials say. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for her non-life threatening injuries.

So far, detectives have been able to determine an altercation took place, but the investigation is ongoing.
