Police investigating 2 fatal, 4 non-fatal shootings in Detroit overnight

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police are investigating several shootings that happened in the city between Saturday night and Sunday morning. There were four non-fatal shootings and two fatal that occurred across the city.

  • Fatal Shooting- 16800 block of Woodbine

Preliminary on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at approximately 10:11 p.m. in the 16800 block of Woodbine, an unknown person heard multiple gun shots fired, police and medics responded to the location and discovered a 39-year old male was fatally shotinside his home. Medics pronounced the victim deceased on scene. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.   • Non-Fatal Accidental Shooting-Chippewa and Cherrylawn

Preliminary on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at approximately 12:00 a.m. in the area of Chippewa and Cherrylawn, a 28-year old victim accidently shot himself. The victim was privately conveyed to the hospital where he was treated and listed in temporary serious condition. Officers responded to the hospital to take report. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.   • Double Non-Fatal Shooting- Rosa Parks Blvd. and Lamothe

Preliminary on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at approximately 11:30 p.m. in the area of Rosa Parks Blvd. and Lamothe, 27-year old female, 32-year old male reported that they were driving in the area when an unknown male and female fired multiple gun shots in the air. As a result, the two victims were shot multiple times, the driver struck multiple parked cars, they ran from the location. Both victims were privately conveyed to a local hospital for treatment where they were both listed in stable condition. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.   • Non-Fatal Shooting-16200 block of Greenfield

Preliminary on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at approximately 3:40 a.m. in the 16200 block of Greenfield, a 51-year old victim was shot. The victim reported that an unknown male shot him over a verbal altercation then fled. Medics transported the victim to a local hospital where he was treated and listed in stable condition. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.   • Fatal Shooting-8 Mile and Gratiot

Preliminary on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at approximately 4:00 a.m. in the area of 8 Mile and Gratiot, a 49-year old male was discovered fatally shot. Medics responded and pronounced the victim deceased on scene. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.
