Police investigating 55-year-old woman found dead inside Detroit home

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police are investigating a fatal assault and separate double non-fatal shooting that happened in the city overnight.

Fatal assault on 15300 block of Manning

On Feb. 8 around 12:50 a.m. in the 15300 block of Manning, a 55-year old woman was discovered unresponsive inside of her home with blunt force trauma to her body. Police say it was reported that allegedly the woman's side door was open and front door unlocked.

Medic arrived and pronounced the woman deceased at scene.

The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated, according to police.

Double Non-fatal shooting on 18500 block of Rosemont

On Feb. 8 around 2:05 a.m. a 30-year-old male victim and female witness were at the home of the 30-year-old male suspect in the 18500 block of Rosemont.

While they were there, the suspect returned home, resulting in a physical altercation with the male victim, police say.

During the altercation, the suspect allegedly shot the victim and grazed him.

Police say the victim ran off after the shooting. At some point, the 47-year-old mother of the female witness along with her 49-year-old male acquaintance arrived at the location.

After the mother confronted the suspect, the suspect allegedly pointed his weapon in her direction, resulting in her firing shots and striking him, then fleeing, Detroit police say.

She later surrendered to authorities at the 6th precinct.

The 30-year old male suspect was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition and also arrested.

The 30-year old male victim was also treated at a local hospital and listed in stable condition.

Upon officers arrival to the scene, the acquaintance of the mother was observed physically assaulting the suspect and was taken into custody as well.

The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated, according to police.
