Police investigating after 2 officers involved in shooting on Detroit's west side

Police are investigating a shooting involving two officers that occurred on Detroit's west side Wednesday evening. 

The shooting happened in the 14900 block of Tireman near Greenfield at 8:11 p.m.. 

Detroit police were responding to a call of a felonious assault involving a 26-year-old and a 55-year-old. 

The suspect had a gun and was threatening to shoot at the scene, according to reports. 

When officers arrived, they encountered the suspect and say that it appeared he was reaching for a gun, that's when he was shot multiple times by officers. The shooting occurred in an alley near the home. A weapon was recovered from the scene. The suspect was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

No officers were injured. This is an ongoing investigation.
