LIVONIA, Mich. (WXYZ) — Livonia police say a 26-year-old man who went missing on April 5 was hospitalized and later died. The man's family was not aware that he had been hospitalized prior to his death, police say.

Andrew Fontaine, 26, went missing on April 5 after he left his home that night to walk to a nearby gas station.

Around 12:30 a.m., Fontaine was seen on surveillance video removing a white mountain bike from his friend’s backyard located in Redford Township, and he was not seen or heard from until Wednesday, April 22 when police discovered that Fontaine had died at a local hospital.

It's unclear at this time why Fontaine was hospitalized in the first place.

Livonia police send condolences to the 26-year-old's family.
