DETROIT (WXYZ) — Shots were fired at four Detroit police officers on the city's west side early Thursday morning.
Police say they were making a traffic stop at Telegraph and 6 Mile, when someone unrelated to the traffic stop drove up and fired off around five or six shots at them.
There were four officers in the parking lot of the motel at the time of the stop.
Police say the driver turned around, drove back and shot several more times at the officers. The officers did not return fire, but took cover and called for back-up.

Police tried to stop a vehicle that matched the description miles away from the location, but the driver took off and ran into the back of a semi.
"Three people were inside of that vehicle and those suspects are being questioned," according to Captain Michael Dicicco.
During the initial traffic stop, officers recovered a couple of guns and made a couple of arrests.
The scene on Telegraph is being processed right now. Crews are looking for shell casings.
Officers have canvassed the area and say no one was injured.
The intersection at Telegraph Road and W. McNichols is currently blocked off for the investigation.
Drivers are encouraged to detour using either 7 Mile or 5 Mile to get around McNichols, and Beech Daly to the west or Lahser to the east for Telegraph.
