WXYZ DETROIT — On Sunday, June 14, Spotlight on the News will focus on the fight for racial equality and justice in America - past, present and future. What do the 2020 "Black Lives Matter" demonstrations have in common with the civil rights movement of the 1950’s and 60's, and what are some of their key differences? We'll discuss this controversial topic with Detroit area Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and Karen Gray Houston, a Washignton, DC area journalist and author of a brand new book entitled, Daughter of the Boycott, a Montgomery (AL) family's civil rights legacy.

Spotlight on the News, now in its 55th season, is Michigan's longest-running weekly news and public affairs television program. It airs every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. on WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 in Detroit, streamed live on wxyz.com and broadcast at 11:30 a.m. on 23.1 WKAR-HD in East Lansing.
