PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) — A Pontiac man is on the run after the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said he stabbed his girlfriend's 20-year-old son during a fight over the NBA Finals late Wednesday night.
According to police, deputies were dispatched to the home on Ferry St. on the report of a stabbing, but they found the victim had been transported by a family member to the hospital already.
Witnesses and the victim said that he and the suspect, a 31-year-old Pontiac man, were arguing about the NBA Finals game and started getting into a fist fight. After the fight, the suspect got a knife from the bedroom and continued the fight.
Deputies say the suspect swung the knife at the victim, causing deep lacerations on his face and forearm, and then took off.
According to deputies, a K-9 unit tried to locate the suspect but was unable to find him. They are still searching for the suspect.
