PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) — Pontiac school officials will hire additional security officers after an alleged rape on campus.

A 14-year-old girl came forward on April 24, to say she had been assaulted by another student in a secluded area of the school. She was taken to the hospital for a rape kit.

The girl and her mother have both answered questions from police.

The suspect, a 15-year-old boy, was being held by school security at that time. He has been questioned by police with his mother in the room. He has been taken to Oakland County's Children's Village, pending criminal charges.

There is also a criminal investigation into an alleged sex scandal between an assistant principal and students. The alarming accusations were leveled by a former principal who says she was demoted after reporting it to school officials.

The district denies the allegation.

"I'm very concerned," said school board president, William Carrington. "That's why we are working hand in hand with our Oakland Sheriff's Office to get some closure on these items for our community."

Carrington said the district is hiring three additional full-time officers. Last week, an officer chased four people out of the school who were not students. It was reported that one of the intruders had a gun.

Former city council member Mark Holland said safety should be the main priority.

"Get it together, protect our kids," Holland said. "Kids our our future."
