President Barack Obama will be traveling to Michigan on Wednesday, May 4 --prompted by an email from a young girl living in Flint, according to a White House official.
Amariyanna Copeny, 8, wrote an email to the President on March 14 to say she is affected by the water crisis and has been marching in protest to "speak out for all the kids that live here in Flint."
Mari notes she's known as "Little Miss Flint" around town.
In her email, she wrote she hoped to meet him and Michelle on a recent trip to D.C. for a Congressional hearing on the issue.
"My mom said chances are you will be (too) busy with more important things..." Amariyanna wrote.
President Obama recently responded with a letter, writing that he wanted her to be the first to know that he's going to visit Flint on May 4 and he hopes to meet her.
"Letters from kids like you are what make me so optimistic for the future," Obama wrote.
While in Flint, Obama is expected to meet with residents to talk about the Flint water crisis and learn more about the federal efforts taking place in the city.
