Rebound Detroit: Need financial assistance? List of resources across metro Detroit

Many people across the state of Michigan are reeling from the economic impacts of the pandemic.

As part of WXYZ-TV’s commitment to help our community rebound, we’re dedicating an entire day to stories regarding financial resources and planning with our Rebound Detroit: Managing Your Finances special coverage. It’s been a tight year—and on Tuesday, Dec. 22, we'll be talking to financial experts and getting answers for you on how to make the most of your money.

If you're in need of financial assistance, check out some of the local resources below:

Trinity Health Michigan
The organization has a hotline to help people in the community find food, transportation, medication assistance and beyond.
HOTLINE: 1-833-247-1258 (callers can press 2 for west Michigan assistance or 3 for southeast Michigan)

Consumers Energy Bill Relief
Company giving $12 million to help families. Call 2-1-1 to connect with nonprofits in your community, including new assistance from Consumers Energy.

DTE Energy
If you are struggling to pay bills due to COVID-19, call 800-477-4747 to get a personalized payment plan.

You can also inquire about the shutoff protection program, low-income self-sufficiency plan and more.

Michigan State Housing Development Authority
The state has several resources for those who may need rental assistance, homeowners assistance, homelessness or more. Click the link above to learn more.

Gleaners Community Food Bank
Gleaners has several food banks throughout metro Detroit if you're struggling with getting food.

Forgotten Harvest
Forgotten Harvest also has hundreds of agencies giving emergency food assistance to those in need.

Oakland County Financial Empowerment Center
Oakland County residents can receive free financial counseling.

Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency
Relief and recovery services offered for residents of Wayne County, including food & income support and mortgage assistance.

Macomb Community Action
Services offered for residents of Macomb County, including utility assistance, rent assistance and medical appointment transportation.

Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency
