Never ending home improvement job leaves eyesore

Posted

A battle is brewing in one Detroit neighborhood over a home improvement job. Instead of making the community look better, some neighbors say it's hindering the good work that's being done.

The Warrendale neighborhood is a tight knit community with passionate neighbors committed to improving the area.

However, some say one house on Artesian Street is a constant eyesore.

Randal Dickensheets purchased the home in 2013. Since then, he says he's working on making needed repairs to make the once vacant home livable.

The yard is littered with construction material and debris. Dickensheets said its needed material for a recent roofing job.

However, online records show he hasn't been a tidy neighbor. He's been cited numerous times since April, 2014 for various blight violations.

Dickensheets says he's working with the judge to clean things up in a timely manner.

A spokesperson for the City of Detroit says Dicensheets will be issued a misdemeanor ticket and will have to appear before a district court judge to address the problem.
