Detroit has yet to tear down burned homes

Posted

It's being called the street from hell. One southwest Detroit neighborhood terrorized by several arson fires, and the city hasn't stepped in to demolish the homes.

Cell phone video shows flames ripping through the homes on the 5200 block of Proctor. In total, three different homes were destroyed.

Lisa Gonzalez talked to 7 Action News nearly a month and a half ago, when the city promised to tear down the dangerous homes, but they're still standing.

A spokesman for the city said they did begin the process of dealing with all of this when the original story aired.

He said the homes will be torn down by the end of the month.
