Community house made by students set on fire

Posted

A non-profit organization's community house in Detroit was set on fire.

It happened Saturday evening on the 1900 block of Ford Street.

The “Motown Movement” was formed by three students from the Netherlands who were working to create a sustainable energy house.

The duplex would be used as a resource center for the community and would provide housing for a family in need.

The fire was contained to the basement. Wiring and plumbing have been destroyed.

Motown Movement says they’ll continue to build, but have been temporarily halted with no power.

They are raising money for donations through their Facebook page.
