DETROIT (WXYZ) — There was not much drama in federal court after a fugitive on the run for 2 1/2 years went in front of a Magistrate.

Darrick Bell with his new defense attorney consented to detention. That might be his last taste of freedom for some time.

Bell is charged with 7 counts including sex trafficking with force, distribution of drugs up to life in prison if convicted.

Bell was arrested last week in a motel in Monroe. The feds say he had $12,000 cash, suspected cocaine and several cell phones. They tracked him as far away as Florida.

Bell is the accused ringleader of the notorious Victory Inn Hotel in Detroit that was home to sex trafficking and drugs.

The feds say 40 of 42 rooms were used for prostitution and drugs. Fourteen women were rescued when it was shut down. Eight others are charged in the case.
