Each day has been excruciating for Kimberly Dallas, who has not seen her son, 23-year-old Corey Cameron in 14 months.
“It’s a nightmare. Everyday Every single day,” said Dallas “I try to be strong for my grandbaby and it’s hard.”
Corey was last seen at a home in the 3100 block of Ewald Circle on Detroit's west side on March 19th, 2015. Police believe an unidentified woman picked him up from the house.
“We believe he left,” said Detroit Police Lieutenant Jeffrey Hahn. “He went towards his home and then came back to this area and that’s the last trace we have of him.”
Investigators say they are trying to track down the woman who was last hear to be with Corey. She may hold the key to solving this crime.
“I want to say stop being a coward,” said Patrice Young of Crime Stoppers. “You know what happened. You know where you took Corey. Come and tell somebody. Call Crime Stoppers. Call the police.”
Meanwhile, Dallas, who says she has been searching for her son since he vanished, believes Corey’s friends might hold some clues.
“For those who were calling him your friend, who grew up with him since kindergarten, I don’t understand how you can not come forward and say anything,” said Dallas. “Seeing that, you know, you came to my house, i fed you, played with him since kindergarten and nothing. You haven’t called me. You haven’t asked to pass out flyers. You haven’t searched. Anything."
Volunteers, Corey’s family, and other families of victims of violence were out Thursday morning in the nearby area where Corey disappeared, spreading the word.
Hefty reward money is being offered for a tip that will bring some closure to Corey’s family, including his young son. Loved ones and volunteers won't give up hope.
“We have a young boy, his father is missing for over a year and we wake up and do the same things every day,” said Brenda Hill with Mothers of Murdered Children. “This is devastating to this family, but to this community as well.”
Corey’s family along with Crime Stoppers is asking anyone who has even the slightest bit of information to call them at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. All calls are anonymous.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest. An additional $1,000 has been offered if the tip comes in before midnight.
