The Detroit Hard Rock Cafe will be closing its doors in January after 15 years.
The restaurant, which is packed with rock and roll memorabilia, is located in the former Compuware building, right across the street from Campus Martius Park.
The restaurant is slated to close by the end of January 2019. It's not yet known what will replace it. It is also unclear if any special events will accompany the closing.
A statement from Hard Rock International, the parent company of Hard Rock Cafe says they are closing because the lease will expire. It also says they are open to reopening at a new location in Detroit.
Since opening the doors of Hard Rock Cafe Detroit in 2003, Hard Rock International has appreciated the opportunity to serve the city’s locals and guests. In January 2019, the lease for Hard Rock Cafe Detroit, located on Monroe Street across from Campus Martius Park, will expire. The location will close on Saturday, January 26, 2019, as a result. The brand remains committed to the city and is open to having another location within the market, if the right space can be identified.
