"I'd tell Detroit to love them, protect them," says the mother of one of Detroit's newest police officers.

On Friday, 45 men and women graduated from the police academy and took the oath, before family and friends, to protect and serve the citizens of Detroit.

"We're here for the community. And the community is going to realize that we're here for them," said Bradley Tobel who has wanted to become a police officer since he was a young child.
