Doss Jr. was responding to a domestic violence call on a house on McDougall near Palmer on Detroit’s east side. Investigators say Decharlos Brooks, who was involved in the initial call to 911, shot Doss Jr. in the head once he got out of his patrol car.

Doss Jr. is the father of a now two-year-old son.

“It’s beautiful to see my grandson grow up because he looks so much like his dad,” said Doss Sr.

Jury selection for the trial against Brooks is scheduled to begin on February 25th.
