A Detroit police officer is being treated at a local hospital after collapsing on the job from possibly coming into contact with horse tranquilizer.

It happened in the 9100 block of Oakland on the city's east side.

Police were on the scene investigating a shooting when the officer collapsed.

The female officer may have came into contact with the substance at the scene before passing out. The officer was then transported by DPD to a local hospital. Her condition is stable.

The shooting victim is described as a 27-year-old man. He was taken from the scene for treatment before the officer's medical emergency.

A hazmat team was on the scene. No other officers were exposed to the substance.
