Records show FedEx driver killed by woman with suspended license

7 Action News has learned a woman behind a deadly car crash was driving illegally.

Detectives say she was racing to get away from another accident, when she took a man's life. A witness described the sound as a loud bang she heard from inside her home.

At 46-years-old, Rodrick Edwin Motley was a loving husband, caring son and devoted father.

A veteran employee of 23 years with FedEx, he was driving his work truck at Chandler Park Drive and Newport in Detroit, when police say that speeding driver struck him on Tuesday.

Police say the woman responsible was driving a Ford Fusion. She was also escaping the scene of another nearby accident she caused just before 2:30 pm.

Records show the 26-year-old female had numerous driving violations, and was on a suspended license.

She sustained minor injuries and remains in police custody.

She will most likely be charged tomorrow sometime.

So far, her name hasn't been released.
