Detroit’s Mexicantown residents will soon have a new way to save while they shop.
The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARC) will host a grand opening for a new store located at 5858 W. Vernor Hwy in Detroit. Doors will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 16.
Community members are invited to join representatives from The Salvation Army ARC for a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the store at 9 a.m. The store will then remain open for bargain hunters until 9 p.m. Additional festivities are planned throughout the day, including a dance performance by Ballet Folklorico Moyocoyani Izel from 8:30 to 8:50 a.m. and a food truck from Loncheria El Parian.
The grand opening will also feature a unique inventory of donations from friends of The Salvation Army ARC. A truckload of As Seen on TV pillows from MyPillow [mypillow.com] will be available for purchase in addition to new furniture from Garner-White Furniture [gardner-white.com].
The event is significant for The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan ARC, as it marks the first entirely new store to open in the city of Detroit in over a decade.
The new location is currently accepting donations in preparation for opening day, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Proceeds from all 37 metro Detroit Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores benefit The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan ARC’s independently funded, 180-day residential rehabilitation program for adults.
