The Force will be with the Detroit Institute of Arts in 2018 as a special exhibit comes to town.
The Smithsonian's Rebel, Jedi, Princess, Queen: Star Wars and the Power of Costume will be at the DIA from May 12, 2018 through September 30, 2018. It will come to Detroit from St. Petersburg, Florida, after wrapping up it's current run in Cincinnati.
The exhibit features over 60 original costumes from the movies, directly from the Lucas Collection.
Among the iconic costumes are those of Darth Vader, C-3PO and Princess Leia. It has been on a national tour since January 2015.
This is the third exhibit that the Smithsonian has done in partnership with Lucasfilm. The previous exhibits were Star Wars: The Magic of Myth and Star Wars: The Art of the Starfighter.
