In 2011, the UN General Assembly proclaimed July 30 The International Day of Friendship, with the idea that friendship between people, countries and culture can inspire peace and build bridges between communities.
To mark the event, the UN encourages governments, and organizations to hold events and participate in activities that promote dialogue between communities.
