Baby Naomi's father released from jail today

Posted

He insists he never hurt his daughter and now a Brighton father who was convicted of child abuse is out of jail.

Josh Burns was released from the Livingston County Jail just after the stroke of midnight.

A jury convicted Burns earlier this year of second degree child abuse. His infant daughter had to be hospitalized in 2014.

Prosecutors accused Burns of harming baby Naomi.

But Josh and his wife Brenda both say the retinal hemorrhaging and the bleeding that was found between Naomi’s skull and brain were caused by birth trauma and a severe illness.

Top lawyers from the prestigious University of Michigan  Innocence Clinic are representing Josh Burns in his appeal.

Dozens of people have protested his conviction and the case has been featured on the Dr. Phil show.

Josh Burns has been granted supervised parenting time with Naomi, who’s almost two years old.

Brenda Burns and several supporters was there to greet Josh as he walked out of jail.
