Battle over Lake St. Clair dumping in Macomb Co.

The Flint water crisis has brought a lot of attention to water and contamination throughout the state. In Macomb County, a problem for years is getting new attention from people, including Gov. Rick Snyder.

While it just got on Snyder's radar, Lake St. Clair has been a hot button issue between the Macomb County Executive and the Macomb County Public Works Director.

The lake has been a dump for years, with billions of gallons of pollution including untreated sewage going into the lake because of a lack of infrastructure.

In the summer, high levels of E-Coli have even closed area beaches.

This has caused Democrat executive Mark Hackel to support Republican Rep. Cnadice Miller who is running for Macomb County Public Works Director.
