METRO AIRPORT (WXYZ) — A father and daughter have been reunited after years apart. The reunion made possible after the daughter took a test through 23 and Me and found the father she never knew she had.
Airports are a place where there’s a lot of reunions, but this reunion - a grown mother meeting her father for the first time – was certainly something special.
“It’s the best day of my life,” says Robin Geraci, who never knew who her father was. Her mother never told Robin about him.
“I had no idea that there was this loving family with him,” she says.
She went through life without a father, missing father daughter dances, graduation and the birth of her daughter.
Robin was curious to find her father, and if he was still alive. So, she submitted a DNA test to 23 and Me, and the results came back with a whole new family.
“I’m just thrilled that he’s here and embracing and just willing to welcome me,” she says.
Her Father, Denis Roland, couldn’t believe it when he found out he had a daughter.
“It was just amazing,” he says. “I didn’t even know I had a daughter.”
The moment the two finally met was one they say they’ll both cherish forever.
“I’m just happy that I found her and she found me were are going to be a family from now on,” says Roland.
“From my childhood and everything that wasn’t always so easy,” says Geraci. “This is a pinnacle and a happy moment and I’m going to soak in every minute I get to spend with him.”
Robin lives in Phoenix and Denis lives in Warren.
The two say they may be thousands of miles apart, but from here on out they will always be family.
