Police search for driver who escaped wild chase

Posted

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Department is trying to track down a man who led them on a police chase on a busy highway.

It all started at a Pennzoil 10 Minute Oil change business on Gratiot in Macomb Township.

A Macomb County deputy noticed a white pick up truck around 5:00 am, when the deputy saw a passenger hop out and enter a Chrysler Sebring parked in the business’ lot.

The deputy discovered both vehicles had bad plates.

Police tried to pursue the pick-up while the driver of the Sebring went in another direction.

The pickup truck, which had a plow attached to the front and a trailer hauling a Kawaski 4 wheeler, can be seen from deputy dash cam video flying westbound on I-94 while police cruisers followed closely behind.

At one point the pickup truck hit a car on the freeway, forcing the car to the side of the highway.

The chase was called off a short time later for safety reasons and the pickup driver got away.

The driver of the pickup truck is described as a white male in his late teens or early 20s. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and he appeared to be talking on his cell phone during the pursuit.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office at (586) 307-9412
