The Macomb County Sheriff's Department is searching for a home invasion suspect who broke into a Washington Township home Friday morning.
The break-in happened at a home in the 57000 block of Mooncreek Ct. at around 9:45 a.m.
A 37-year-old woman says an African-American man posing as a utility worker forced his way into the home while brandishing a small black handgun. She was able to get into a nearby bedroom and call 911.
The homeowner's mother was also in the home. She grabbed a kitchen knife and confronted the suspect, at which point he ran from the home.
Deputies were dispatched to the home. However, they were unable to locate the suspect.
He is described as being about 5'7" tall with a medium build. He is believed to be about 30-years-old. At the time of the break-in, he was wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants and a light green reflective coat.
Police say he left the scene in a black mini-van with a sliding door. A second suspect may have been in the car, acting as a getaway driver.
