ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WXYZ) — The bitterly cold weather early Monday morning slowed firefighters at a house in Roseville.
An elderly woman was alone inside and is still recovering in the hospital ICU for smoke inhalation.
She called her son Kevin who lived a block away and he rescued her. Everybody knows the 83-year-old as Grandma Lillian, she has lived in the house for more than four decades.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page for her.
Family members were back at the house today literally picking up pieces of their lives.
They believe the old furnace boiler and a window air conditioner may have blown up during they fire, tossing out stuff into the yard.
They found a couple of old photo albums and an old home video labeled Kevin’s graduation.
The family was also out at 4:00 am rolling cell phone video that shows the fire in the second level of the house and firefighters on the ground unable to pour water onto it.
The next door neighbor says they had to run a hose down the street to get water, that a nearby hydrant had frozen.
