Westland man charged as sexual predator

Posted

A 59-year-old Westland man is facing charges he used an online advertisement in an attempted to have sex with what he thought was a juvenile girl.

Kenneth David Rogers was arrested Saturday morning after, police say, he spent the previous six days exchanging emails with a member of the Macomb County Computer Enforcement team who was posing as the girl.

Rogers was arrested when he arrived at a predetermined location in his 2001 Ford Explorer. He had set up the meeting to have sex with the juvenile.

Rogers has been charged with three counts of Child Sexually Abusive Activity and one count of Using a Computer to Commit Crime.

Rogers was arraigned on the charges on Monday. He was given a $10,000 cash-or-surety bond.

He is due back in court on December 28.
