Warren Mayor Fouts asks Attorney General Schuette to investigate alleged Freedom Hill dumping

The mayor of Warren is asking the state attorney general to investigate what he calls illegal dumping at the freedom hill landfill.

Mayor Fouts is going on the offensive, saying he has strong environmental concerns about that landfill site.

Although it is located in Sterling Heights not warren, he says his membership in the South Macomb Disposal Authority gives him cause to raise these questions.

There's specifically an inquiry into a contractor allegedly dumping materials without proper permits.

Fouts says 200,000 yards were dumped at the landfill earlier this year.

But sources tell me the SMDA and state Department of Environmental Quality still haven't validated much of what Fouts is saying.

State and local authorities are making sure there's no risk to public health.

The state attorney general so far is not making any statements.
