Folks in La Salle and Frenchtown Townships are dealing with flooded streets and homes, after waves from Lake Erie crashed against the shoreline, spilling into yards and homes.
Neighborhoods are still trying to fix the damage from a previous flood a few weeks ago, with today’s flooding, it’s just adding insult to injury.
"We stood out in the streets and we were crying because we just went through this three weeks ago," said La Salle Township resident, Michele Doty.
Water from Lake Erie swamped neighborhoods from Frenchtown Township to Luna Pier.
"The impact is really terror for all of us. None of us are used to the water levels being at the height they’re at," said North Shores resident Neal Thurber.
The North Shores community in La Salle Township is dealing with flooded streets and homes for a second time in less than a month.
"It’s more critical because of the water level being so high. If the water level was down near historic average levels for Lake Erie you wouldn't be having much of a problem," said Thurber.
Some people still making repairs after the first round of flooding.
"Our entire lower level was submerged we had about 10 inches of water and we were actually lucky, a lot of our neighbors have up to two feet in their house," said Doty.
Residents say they’re sick of it. And something needs to be done.
"Our taxes are to maintain these pumps. we have pump systems that are already in the ground, but unfortunately half the time they don’t work, said Doty.
With more wet weather in the forecast, neighborhoods along lake Erie could be dealing with more flooding sooner rather than later.
