Farmington Hills police are increasing patrols around the Village Green Apartments after a resident was assaulted and robbed.
The incident happened around midnight Friday while a 60-year-old female resident was outside of her apartment walking her dog.
"When she attempted to enter back into her apartment, that's when the suspect emerged and attacked her," said Farmington Hills police Lieutenant Jeff King. "He attempted to get some money and maybe some prescription medicine then attacked her, sexually assaulting her before fleeing the apartment."
Police describe the suspect as a white male, approximately 5'-5" to 5'-7" inches tall with a medium build and a medium complexion. He was wearing blue jeans, red shoes and cotton gloves.
"We want to do everything we can to investigate this fully and find the suspect involved in this," King told Action News. "Also we owe it to the community to make them aware and make them as safe as possible."
Police say the victim is cooperating but badly shaken by the incident.
"It's concerning," said Amy Studier, a resident of four months. She first learned of the attack from listening to the radio this morning.
"I feel safe, that's why I was kind of surprised when I heard about it," Studier said.
