Northland Mall was demolished Thursday to make room for new Amazon headquarters.
Southfield Mayor Kenson Siver said, "We want to signal to Amazon that we own 125 acres and we're ready to clear this property and you can come on over."
"If you pass on us, then we'll find something better all right," he said.
The City of Southfield is looking at new ways to make the space useful.
Pieces of the mall will be spared, like the Hudson Building and the tunnels.
While the city would love to see Amazon call Southfield Home, they say they've already got offers on the table.
"My hope is that the economy stays strong so that we can develop this property sooner rather than later," Siver said.
