Police arrest man at Madison Heights hotel on Human Trafficking charges

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 36-year-old Madison Heights man is under arrested, facing allegations of Human Trafficking.

James Yun was arrested at the Days Inn Hotel on 14 Mile Road on February 12. He has been charged with Prostitution/Accepting Earnings, Prostitution/Transporting Person, Human Trafficking-Forced Labor and Keeping a House of Prostitution.

Officers say Yun was in business for more than a year, using online advertisements.

Police say the victim in the case is a 33-year-old citizen of China who is in the US on a visa. No other information is being released. 7 Action News is told that other women may be involved as well.

Yun was arraigned Friday in 43rd District Court and given a $250,000 bond. He was required to surrender his passport, placed on a GPS tether and ordered not to leave Michigan. He was also ordered not to have contact with the victim.

Yun faces 20 years in prison if convicted.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are examining physical evidence, including paper records and electronic communications.

The case is being handled by a special investigations unit that was restarted in January after being shur down several years ago due to budget concerns.
