The royal wedding is this weekend and many here in our area can’t wait to attend, via live stream at watch parties.

The Royal Park Hotel is hosting an event in honor of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle saying “I do.”

They are hosting a viewing party Saturday morning from 6 to 9 a.m.

Mike Platt is the General Manager of the Royal Park Hotel.

“We’re known for doing out of the box, extraordinary kind of events,” he said.

For a flat rate of $42 per person, you’ll get to watch the nuptials and get some royal treats to eat and take home.

“Bringing in gifts that will be given out during the event, such as a Harrod’s basket.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s reception will break from tradition. For example, the royal wedding cake traditionally is a fruit cake. This weekend the royal couple will have a lemon elderflower cake.

Expect that to be served at the watch party, along with specialty drinks.

“Featuring the queen’s morning cocktails, as well as what she drinks throughout the day.”

Richard Ragainis is the hotel’s Food & Beverage Director. He gave us an example one drink on the menu.

“The Queen’s Sunrise, which is her own concoction. It is made with true dry London gin, and then it uses a little Italian rose liquor and from there she likes lots of ice and plenty of lemon pinwheels in it,” Ragainis explained.

The staff is rushing to make last minute preparations for this weekend’s event. They thought maybe a couple of dozen people will attend.

By the time we filed our story, 160 people have made reservations, making this party at full capacity now.

Platt said,“Quite shocked but very excited for those incoming guests.”

Platt hopes this once in a lifetime event continues to set the standard at the Royal Park Hotel.

“We are definitely trying to capture the essence of what they’re trying to do.”
