SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — They aren’t just celebrating the new year. They are celebrating new life!
7 Action News Reporter Kim Russell had the honor of meeting the first baby of the new year at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital Ann Arbor.
Her name is Eloise Fay Paris. She was born at 12:25 a.m. Her parents Tony and Emily say they now know the meaning of the phrase “bundle of joy.”
“She snuggled up to me and I was in love. The moment that I met her,” said Emily Paris.
“When I held her I cried at the reality. This has happened. She is here,” said Tony Paris.
They say they never imagined she would win the title first baby of the new year. They thought she would be born last night.
“But we like winning. Even accidental winning makes things wonderful,” said Emily.
Eloise is all about firsts. Not only is she the first baby of 2020 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Ann Arbor, she is their first baby. She is the first granddaughter in the family. She is also the first to be on TV the day she was born.
She comes as the Paris family starts not only a new year, but a new decade and the realization of dreams coming true.
“I knew I wanted to be a dad since I was in high school. But you wonder if you are going to find that special someone. When I met her a few years ago. We wanted the same things,” said Tony.
“Now we have that perfect family for us,” said Emily.
They say they don't know how to top this year's resolution, already accomplished: to become parents.
