The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said a teen who reported she escaped a kidnapping made the entire thing up.
Deputies started investigating after the teen said she was kidnapped in front of an apartment complex in Ypsilanti Township. She told deputies she was forced inside a truck, but was able to escape near a store in Augusta Township.
She described the vehicle that she said was used in the kidnapping, and Van Buren police stopped a vehicle matching the description. The driver was taken into custody and interviewed by police.
According to the sheriff's office, the teen was in trouble with a guardian and made the story up. It's not clear whether the teen will face charges.
