It's a story you'll only see on 7 Action News. Nearly 2 months after we first told you about financial hardship left Highland Park with just one, aging fire engine, a miracle has happened.

A neighboring community responded to help, together with generous private donors.

As a result, the Bloomfield Township Fire Department has stepped up to donate a spare fire engine in excellent shape to Highland Park.

"This is huge, huge, huge for us" says Fire Chief Kevin Coney.

His firefighters battle as many as 800 fires per year.

The new engine is already being put to use, on the streets of Highland Park. T

he Bloomfield Township Fire Charity and Police benevolent fund also helped pay for expenses.
