TAYLOR, Mich. (WXYZ) — A grieving Mother is speaking out after her daughter and another man were involved in a horrific accident Sunday night in Taylor while they were pushing a car that ran out of gas.

Melissa Kozlowski’s daughter is at Beaumont in Dearborn. She’s already undergone several major surgeries - including having her legs amputated.

Melissa says this accident has changed her family's life forever.

"My worst fear right now is when she wakes up we’re going to have to let her know she ain’t got no legs left, so that’s the hardest for me," said Kozlowski.

It was around 7:40 Sunday night when Kozlowski’s 24-year-old daughter Megan was involved in a terrible car crash in Taylor.

"She does not know anything yet. All she knows is where she's at. She knows I was here and wants to know, but she does not know of any injuries or anything," said Kozlowski.

Megan and two other men ran out of gas heading north on Pardee and Brest street. Police say one man steered the car while Megan and another man pushed it from behind.

"There was another car coming northbound and smacked into them and crushed them in between the two cars," said Kozlowski.

Megan and the man were hit and pinned in between the two cars. The crash severely injuring the pair. The other man lost one of his legs.

Megan has had several surgeries and both of her legs were amputated.

Melissa says her daughter's life will forever change, but is so grateful for the amount of support and help she’s received.

"It’s truly a blessing to know that there’s such good people left in this world. As for the other driver, I know he’s okay, I did ask the detective, I am angry but I will forgive him and we’ll just have to go from second to second, day by day. It’s going to be a long haul," said Kozlowski.

Taylor police continued to investigate. Officers are still trying to determine if the other driver may have been distracted.

The family has come up witha GoFundMe account to help with medical expenses and supplies they will need moving forward.
