A warning for parents in Redford Township. Police said a man attempted to lure children into his vehicle near a bus stop around 8:15 Thursday morning.

Extra officers patrolled the area where it happened, near Pickford and Lennane St. by Claud Allison Park when school let out Thursday afternoon.

Officers said the suspect is a black man in his early to mid 30s, with a thin goatee. He was driving a black Dodge Durango, with a blue old English ‘D’ in the back window.

Three kids, between the ages of 7 and 11 were walking to their bus stop when police said the man approached them.

"He was asking them questions about where they go to school, where their bus stop was and do they want a ride to school,” said Ofc. Jennifer Mansfield with the Redford Township Police Department.

The kids did not get into the vehicle or answer any of the man’s questions, because of the oldest member of the trio.

"She was 11, she had a couple of younger siblings with her and she was pretty smart about it.  The little kids wanted to answer his questions, and she was like, nope and started walking away,” said Mansfield.

Redford Police are concerned this suspect might strike again, so are residents.

"I'd hate for someone to say that to my little brother,” said Desmone Bobo, who was out playing football with his little brother when he stopped to talk with 7 Action News.

"I didn't think anything like that would happen, you know, I thought this was a good neighborhood,” said Bobo.

He said his little brother won’t be walking to the bus stop on Friday.

"I'll just take him to school,” said Bobo.

Redford Police said if you see the man in the black Dodge Durango, call 911 right away.
