A River Rouge man previously entangled in a controversy where he appeared to be posing as a K-9 officer was charged with impersonating a police officer.
Blake Purvis, 23, allegedly drove a black SUV on March 24 with police-inspired decals on the car and was wearing clothes resembling a police uniform.
It is further alleged that he used flashing lights to make a fake traffic stop of a woman who was driving her car on the Lodge freeway near I-94. When the woman became suspicious of his car, she kept driving and immediately reported the incident to the police.
Purvis previously stated that he was working to clear everything up with police. He said the motivation behind putting the decals on his car was that he works in a tough area in Detroit.
He has been charged with impersonating a peace officer, a one-year misdemeanor, and possession of flashing lights, a 90-day misdemeanor.
