It was at an L.A. Fitness gym where a nurse happened to be working out when suddenly a man collapsed from a heart attack.

Within seconds, she began taking action to save his life.

“It was a look that people have I had seen many times before at the hospital, but this has never happened to me outside of work,” says Amal Hammoud.

It was Saturday morning around 11:00 am, at the gym on Fairlane Drive.

Another gym member had tried doing CPR without any success.

That’s when Amal called for a defibrillator machine that was mounted near the entrance of the facility.

“Within a few seconds he started to breathe again, and his heart was beating. It worked, and the ambulance got there quickly,” says Amal.

She wants people to know that having the proper emergency equipment can truly save a life.

The man is now recovering at Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn where Amal works as a nurse.

“I’ve already been able to check on him, and he’s doing much better,” says Amal.

The humble hero says she’s just glad everything worked out.
