(WXYZ) — Former Rep. John Dingell is currently in hospice care after being diagnosed with cancer, according to a source close to the family.
On Wednesday morning, his wife, Rep. Debbie Dingell, said she missed the State of the Union Tuesday night to stay home with her husband, former Rep. John Dingell.
She is asking for "prayers and privacy" during this difficult time and said she will be taking each day as it comes.
Friends and colleagues know me and know I would be in Washington right now unless something was up. I am home with John and we have entered a new phase. He is my love and we have been a team for nearly 40 years.
